Rome (in Italian Roma) is the capital and largest city of Italy, the 6th largest city of Europe and the xxlargest city of the World. The city center is located in betwen the "Seven hills of Rome": Capitoline , Aventine, Caelian, Palatine , Viminal, Quirinal and Esquilin hills. The city is divided into I9 "Municipati".  According to the Legend the city was founded on April 21 -753 (before year 0 birth of Jesus) by the twins Romulus and Remus. Rome was once the capital of the Roman Empire. In 476 it became the seat of the Pope (chief of the Roman Catholic Church). In 1870 the city was conquered by the newly formed Italian Kingdom. Today the city if the capital of the Republic of Italy. Two of the most famous companies from Rome are the Fashion Houses Fendi and Valentino. |
